In this video, we want to explain to you what is the McKenzie Method, or what is MDT, or what is McKenzie. It is a very, very powerful tool that you’ll see in the rehab industry. So, what the McKenzie Method actually is is it’s essentially a way to assess and treat mechanical pain in the body. So, disc injuries, or radiculopathy, impingement, anything that’s sort of functional or mechanical, the McKenzie Method is an incredibly powerful way to assess and treat those things.

Yeah. The really cool thing about the McKenzie Method is that it’s tailored to each specific patient. He mentioned this a second ago, it’s not a cookie-cutter approach. So, we’re going to take the patient through something called a repeated motion exam, we’re going to repeatedly move the patient, and then we’re going to see how they respond. If they respond well, awesome, then we’re going to keep doing more of that. If they don’t, that’s fine, then we may just have to tailor the exercise a little bit for that specific patient.

And what’s nice about that is, by basing everything that we’re doing off of how you the patient respond, it’s very safe, but it’s also very effective because we’re not just sort of giving you a generalized program for your low back pain, we’re giving you a specific program for your specific low back pain. And that makes it very, very powerful. And honestly, as someone that treats a lot of complex cases, or both of us do, that is absolutely essential. So, if you’ve had back pain for a couple of months or even a couple of years, you’re probably not going to respond to cookie-cutter methods, and that’s where the McKenzie Method is so powerful because it is tailored to you the patient.

Yeah. With the McKenzie Method, this is just a part of our overall treatment methodology here. We use it as our inlet to decide how we’re going to treat people, but then, we use all the other chiropractic stuff; the manipulation, the soft tissue with it, but McKenzie Method at CCRC is the foundation of how we treat people.

Yeah, it’s great. So, just to keep everything short here, the McKenzie Method was discovered by a guy named Robin McKenzie, a physical therapist from New Zealand back in the 1960s. And it’s a very, very powerful way to assess and also treat mechanical problems in the body. So, disc herniation, slipped discs, bulges, rotator cuff problems, impingement, even headaches. Anything that has mechanical causes or sources is going to usually respond very, very well to McKenzie. So, if you want to learn more about what is involved with the McKenzie evaluation and some other sort of factoids about it, sort of check out some of the videos we’ve got coming up for you.
